There are tons of essential oils to choose from. My “collection” just keeps growing and growing. I think my husband is convinced I have an addiction….I probably do. The essential oils everyone always recommends for those who want to try oils are ones I call the “beginner oils.” The top 3 essential oils for beginners are peppermint, lavender, and lemon. In fact there is even a doTERRA kit that includes all three of these.

Peppermint Essential Oil
1) Peppermint oil is a very popular oil. I put it in my black bean brownies (which are delicious AND healthy). I use it to open my sinuses. And when paired with lavender, it makes a great remedy for headaches.
Lemon Essential Oil
2) Lemon essential oil is another great oil. When I smell lemon I think of clean. I think it is from lemon scented cleaning products. Now I use lemon essential oil in a lot of the cleaning products that I make. It’s also a great oil for detoxing your body. I put a drop or two in my water and it tastes amazing.
Lavender Essential Oil
3) Lavender essential oil is a huge favorite among those that use essential oils. Not only do I use it for headaches (with peppermint oil), but I also use it for my anxiety. This oil is a favorite among those who have trouble falling asleep as well. Put a drop on the bottom of your feet, mist some on your pillow, or put some in a diffuser and sweet dreams! I also put it on bug bites to help with itching. Learn more about lavender essential oil here.
